Seminar Series

The Seminar Series is the cornerstone of the College's annual PD program. The Series consists of two lectures six times a year. They are held on a Tuesday evening, every second month from February to November inclusive. Beginning at 6.15pm and 7.30pm, the lectures are held in the Amies Theatre and run for approximately one hour. Coffee and sandwiches are served from 5.30pm in the Schultz Foyer and the Nathan Library remains open to 6.15 pm.

The Seminar Series' lectures are free to members and each earns two CPD points. Non-members are welcome to attend the lectures at the cost of $44 (inc GST) for each set of two lectures.

During 2010, the College is offering a set of 5 DVDs (up to 10 lectures) subject to speaker permission of the annual Seminar Series Lectures at a special member rate of $30 (non member rate $99). Previously, this set of DVDs has been allocated 10 CPD points without assessment and 20 points with assessment. Download the Subscription Form for more information.

Clinical Workshops

Clinical Workshops have helped optometrists adopt new clinical skills and techniques through practical demonstration. These are full workshops as opposed to the shorter workshops that are run in conjunction with the annual SRC. The workshops are held on site in a clinical environment in small groups, enabling participants to practice techniques under personal instruction. Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if they so desire.

Support Staff Courses

Regardless of the location or size of a practice, support staff are exposed to common experiences that draw on their knowledge and skills. Staff Support Courses are run throughout the year for both new and experienced exerienced staff and provide plenty of opportunities to ask questions and include a practical hypothetical consultation.

Go to Courses for details of the 2010 program.
