Introduction

Membership is available to persons of good standing in the community and among their peers, and who practise optometry in accordance with the standards of the College. The College’s Code of Ethics, requires members to strive continually to enhance their knowledge and skill so as to ensure that their patients receive the benefits of advances in their profession.

Information


By joining the Australian College of Optometry you will enjoy access to a variety of professional development activities including courses, workshops and seminars held each year. You will also receive a copy of the Newsletter and Annual report and you will have access to the Nathan Library and the College's audio video tape borrowing service.

If you're working in metropolitan Melbourne, then joining the College will give you the opportunity to attend the bi-monthly Seminar Series. Or if you have taken up employment in rural Victoria or interstate then you may enjoy access to the library and to the audio CD and DVD borrowing service to help you keep in touch with progress.

As a member your rights and privileges will include:

Members

Application forms are online or are available from the Australian College of Optometry.

The Annual Declaration form should also be completed.

Affiliates


Affiliate membership is available to persons of good standing in the community and among their peers, and who practise optometry in accordance with the standards of the College.

Student Membership

The Australian College of Optometry (College) invites undergraduate optometry students of Australia or New Zealand universities to join as student members of the College to enjoy and experience some of the benefits of membership during their University studies.

Student Membership is provided at no charge to undergraduate optometry students.

Fellowship of the Australian College of Optometry

Fellowship of the College recognises members who have demonstrated that they practice optometry in accordance with the Codes of Ethics and Professional Standards of the College and who, in addition, have contributed to the advancement and vitality of the profession through clinical excellence, research, teaching or professional leadership. Fellows are entitled to use the affix FACO. The Fellows of the College are listed in the Annual Report of the College and this internet site.
