:: Ocular Disease Services
Ocular Disease Services at the Melbourne Optometry Clinic encompass five
specialist disease clinics in the areas of retina, diabetes, glaucoma,
anterior eye and cataract. They also include the Visual Functions Clinic.
The Retina, Glaucoma and Anterior Eye Clinics commenced operation
in December 1998 as a way to improve care to patients and to keep
up with the expanding scope of the practice of optometry. The Diabetes
and Cataract Clinics started in April 2002.
Services
The Ocular Disease Clinics provide specific testing relevant to
the eye condition being investigated. These clinics are staffed
by optometrists with many years of experience and who have a
special interest in the area of ocular disease.
Five clinics operate with staff specialising in the following
areas:
- Retina
- Diabetes
- Glaucoma
- laser scanning ophthalmoscopy & computerised disc
topography
- Anterior Eye
- Cataract
Eligibility
Patient are referred to the Ocular Disease Clinics by staff
optometrists from the General Clinic at Carlton, student clinics,
regional clinics and private optometric practitioners.
