Clinical Services - (Metropolitan)Services by Eligibility
|
| Eye Examinations | The Clinic provides primary optometry care through its General Clinic which is staffed by optometrists and optometry students under the supervision of registered optometrists. The costs of most optometry consultations are covered by Medicare. The Clinic bulk bills consultation fees and so normally no consultation fee is payable by the patient. All aspects of your visual function are investigated including binocular vision, eye health and your spectacle prescription. |

| Glasses | If you hold a gold Department of Veterans' Affairs card and meet the Department's requirement for the provision of spectacles, the Clinic can provide spectacles under standing arrangements with the Department of Veterans' Affairs. A copy of any necessary prescription is available at the end of consultation. |
| Contact Lens Services | Contact lenses may be supplied for patients who meet the
Department of Veterans' Affairs criteria for the provision
of contact lenses

| Disability Services | Services for people with intellectual, physical, sensory and/or multiple disabilities are available. These services can be provided at the main clinic in Carlton, or an off-site visit can be arranged through the Visiting Disability Service. |
| Visual Functions Clinic | You may be referred into the
Visual Functions Clinic by your own eyecare practitioner
or as a result of your eye examination in the Clinic. Specialist
staff and equipment are used for specific assessment and
opinions.

| Ocular Disease Services | Several clinics are available to manage the detection and monitoring of ocular diseases:

| Low Vision Clinic | Patients who have a loss of vision not correctable by spectacles
or contact lenses may be helped at a Low Vision Clinic
which can provide assessment and advice, as well as various
forms of optical assistance to make the best use of remaining
vision. Many low vision aids and lighting devices available
at Low Vision Clinics can be funded by the Department of
Veterans' Affairs up to certain level.

These services are all available from the main Carlton site. To make an appointment you may

General clinic services are also available at the regional clinic sites at Broadmeadows, East Preston, Doveton-Hallam, Braybrook and Frankston. Services are also available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service. If you wish to attend these sites, please contact the site directly to arrange an appointment.
